The Humberside Police Athletics section caters for runners of all abilities and offers them the opportunity to represent the Force at a number of regional and national events:

Northern Police Cross Country League

This runs from September to March each season and consists of 12 off road fixtures which are hosted by Northern Police forces including Humberside. Humberside has a wide range of runners who now consistently compete at these fixtures, which has contributed to the Force being the overall league winners for the Team event for the past two seasons. Regardless of your speed around the course, your presence at a fixture contributes to Humberside’s standings in the league, making it an all inclusive environment to represent Humberside.

Police Sport UK National Cross Country Championships

This event takes place each March and see runners of all abilities from across the UK take part. Humberside hosted this event most recently in 2022 with a very successful race held at Normanby Hall where over 20 runners represented for Humberside. Locations used recently include Gwrych Castle in Wales where I’m A Celebrity was filmed for a couple of years. These events are always well attended by Humberside runners and it is always a great day out.

British Police Fell Race

This takes place in May and offers those who prefer a more challenging, hilly experience to represent the Force. Race venues are held at some stunning locations including the Lake District, so if you like a hike around these parts then this could be the event for you!

Police Sport UK National Track and Field Championships

This usually takes place around August time and is a great opportunity for those who like track and field events to represent the Force in these disciplines.

Police Sport UK National 10 Mile Road Race

For those who prefer road running, then this event will likely appeal. Held every September, like the national cross country event this race sees runners from all over the UK compete. Always a great event wherever it is held.

Police Sport UK National Road Race Marathon

This event always takes place as part of a national marathon event. Races chosen recently have included the Loch Ness Marathon, Chester Marathon and this year sees the opportunity to take on the Langdale Marathon. This is a really good opportunity for those who were thinking about taking on a marathon to commit and represent the Force!
